Port McNeill, B.C. September 30th, 2021 - Lemare Group is observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with humility from our home and offices on the Traditional Territories of the Kwakwaka'wakw Peoples.
Lemare Group calls on our friends, families, staff, community and British Columbians to use September 30 as an opportunity to learn, reflect, make connections, and take action in redressing more than 150 years of injustice.
Truth and Reconciliation Day fulfills Call to Action 80 in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action report: We call upon the federal government, in collaboration with Aboriginal peoples, to establish, as a statutory holiday, a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.
We are committed to the thoughtful implementation of the calls to action in our organization today and everyday.
